Fascination with age is hurting Australian cricket

With the Ashes now long gone, I’ve finally offered my thoughts on but one area where I think Cricket Australia may have shot itself in the foot.

The Futures League is a good idea, but I’m not convinced it’s producing better cricketers.  There’s no doubt it’s producing younger players, but are they any better prepared for First Class and Test cricket?

Farewell Sydney, and therefore, the Tour…

It’s all gone by so fast.  A tour that feels like it’s been in the planning for eons is all over in the blink of an eye.

The fifth and final leg of the tour, the annual trip up the highway to Sydney, is over with England winning the Ashes 3-1 after a thumping innings win at the SCG.

Fair play, England were too good

England celebrate the wicket of Michael Beer, and the commencement of the longest night of their lives..

It may pain some to read this, but the reality is that a very good, extremely well-drilled England side have cleaned up Australia by an innings and plenty in the last Ashes Test in Sydney.

The English fans flooded the SCG as the gates opened, and some may even still be partying as you read this (maybe even weeks later, for those reviewing my tour).  It’s fair to say they’re all pretty happy with what they’ve achieved.
